Dao (Naga type of axe/chopper). Long metal blade of basic triangular shape: single edged curved blade, concave end. Wooden haft, with short band of plaited cane around the haft where the blade inserted, and longer band of thin cane strips bound and plaited on behind. One side of haft end, along over half its length, decorated with 28 rows of four longer tufts of red dyed hair fringe (probably goat’s hair) – many tufts now missing.
