
Dao (Naga type of axe/chopper) Long metal blade of basic triangular shape: single edged curved blade, ridge along the length on one side near the back/top, concave end. Wooden haft, with short band of plaited cane around the haft where the blade inserted, and longer band of thin cane strips bound and plaited on behind, with traces of resin. One side of haft end, decorated with five rows of four longer tufts of red dyed hair fringe (probably goat’s hair) – many tufts now missing – with one row of four tufts of white hair at the end.
