helmet with neck guard

An iron helmet with a dome-shaped crown surmounted by a brass lotus bud knob on a brass base featuring a lotus pedestal and a small iron peak in front, decorated with gilt classic scrolls on the edge. The rest of the crown edge is covered with leather. The brim is encircled with braided silk cord in red, white, yellow and blue; these four colours represent the four Manchu banner armies. The white cotton lining is decorated with blue and red patterned strips. There is a neck guard formed by a back flap and two side flaps of rose red damask bordered with orange damask and lined with red velvet. There are four leather ties to secure it around the neck.
