[One of pair] Raised wooden woman's sandal, koma geta shape. Lacquered brownish red with shaped panels on the sides in crushed mother-of-pearl set in lacquer with iris motifs in gold. Butterfly motifs on plain lacquered part. The top of the sole is faced with four panels of woven straw. The thong (hanao) is made of hemp string covered with leather underneath and green grey and orange brocade with a paulownia floral design above. Where the string of the strap passes through beneath the shoe area there is a metal cover in a floral shape nailed on. 215 long x 87 w x 62 h.
