incense burner

Metal koro or incense burner in two parts. It is believed to have been made or collected in Japan, the date is unknown. The burner is shaped to resemble a bird, possibly a stork or swan. Briefly, its features consist of; a long neck with head and open beak; contour and flight feathers on the body; and large webbed feet. The wings are made as a seperate part and are detachable to reveal a hollow interior.
