Circular paper flaming mantra wheel. The core mantra in the centre is surrounded by 8 different protective mantras invoking the names of different protective deities; ringed by a chain of Vajras and on the outside by flames.

In Tibetan Buddhism paper mantras or auspicious symbols like this example could be used to fill sacred objects. Their incorporation into such objects would be accompanied by a blessing from a lama which served to 'activate' the object, transforming it from an everyday object to something with sacred capacity.
