armlet (adornment)

Man’s armlet. Cylindrical fibre base (now flattened) decorated with two rows of Job’s tears seeds, many missing. A narrow black fabric band above and below the rows of seeds which overlays the cotton thread securing hair fringes above and below. A short fringe of dyed red hair below, on top of a fringe of long black hair. Above the seeds, a tufted fringe of short red hair, covered at the bottom with a strip of yellow tape.
