Carved wooden netsuke in the form of a study of a man trapped in a box. The man's head is not visible, but his back and the lower part of his waist appear, dressed only in a waistcloth, and the elbow of his left arm. On the right side of the box his right arm emerges from the box; on the left there is a corresponding hole but no arm emerging. A label on the base is numbered '32'.
