Very long, tablet woven braid called a 'sa-si-gyo' (ribbon). It is used for binding together the wooden lacquered boards which protect religious manuscripts. The text on the braid states that 22 manuscripts (which have 10 to 12 lines per side and are all edged with gilt) were donated by Monastery Donor U San and his wife Monastery Donor Me Hman. They lived in Nyaung township near Manadalay. It expresses the donors' wishes to attain nirvana. The braid is not dated. [Textile]
