About this event

The Horniman will be illuminated for one night only by a full spectrum of performances, music and tours on the theme of neon. So come dressed in your best neons, grab a pair of our Rainbow Glasses and join in the fun!


Half a Pill of Pink

Ensemble theatre collective, Stan and the Humans, perform colourful short scenes interspersed with music and dancing on the theme of Neon. Text by Jalice Coral and direction from Lis Austin, Nick Fogarty and Allie Milledge.

Spoken Word

Jalice Corral talks time machines, 1998 Honda Accords, picket fences, Queen Victoria’s wedding, and more in this Neon inspired spoken word set.

Dance Performances

stack: Choreographed by Janine Harrington and performed by students from the Dance Department of the University of Roehampton, stack is a puzzle you play together.

Legal Highs

Exhilarating displays of neon poi and UV pole dancing with Rosie Taylor.

DJ Kofi

DJ Kofi will be laying down some of the best playing the best in acid house and dance music.

Storm Greenwood

Take a break from the dance floor and join singer-songwriter Storm Greenwood for a gentler, heartfelt take on Neon. She’ll be singing some colourful covers alongside a selection of tracks from her new EP ‘Devotions’.

Do I Look Like a Palm Tree?

Stan and the Humans return for a trippy Neon finale. 


Growhampton Rainbow Chard Display and Recipes

Come and learn all about Rainbow Chard. Take some seeds home with you to grow your own, pick up some chard recipe cards, and enjoy talking to the sustainability team from the University of Roehampton about all things green. 


Electric Sheep: The Natural History of Blade Runner with Dr Dan Byrne-Smith

From the neon-soaked streets of Los Angeles to the desert wastelands beyond, the vision of Blade Runner and its recent sequel depicts a grim future for the natural world. Join Dr Dan Byrne-Smith, The Horniman Museum Art, Design and Natural History Fellow, as he explores animals and themes of natural history in the films and the book that inspired them - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Talk with Dr Emma Louise Nicholls

Recent scientific discoveries have shown a surprising array of animals that glow in a variety of ways under different light conditions. Join Dr Emma-Louise Nicholls on an illuminating voyage of colour as she divulges the glowing world of nature after dark.
