About the Display

How can you reuse a single-use plastic bottle, and create a haven for bees, insects and other pollinators?

Featuring 120 2ltr plastic drinks bottles reused as planters, this hanging bottle garden is planted with bee-friendly species including poppies and marigolds, and the bottles decorated with designs inspired by Matisse’s colourful botanical cut-outs.

Pupils at The Horniman Primary School have sown the seeds, decorated the bottles and planted the final display, with the support of the Gardens Team at the Horniman, and local floral designer Yolanda Chiaramello.

The Matisse-inspired Bottle Garden is part of the Chelsea Fringe Festival.
