Wicker basket. Narrow strips of cane have been laid across one another and bent up into struts to form a U-shaped cone. The ends of the strips have been bound to a horizontal loop of cane which forms the rim. Where the canes meet in the middle of the base, a dent has been formed to create a stable base. The fine mesh of the basket is formed by thin strips of cane woven horizontally in a plain basket weave.
