Transverse flute in G. Boxwood. Block mounts for four keys, all of which are missing, as are two end pivoted finger plates. Four joints. Head joint doubles back on itself to accommodate extra length. Tenons lapped with white string. Four ivory ferrules and two ivory end caps. Upper joint, lower joint and foot joint are stamped: WIGLEY/&/McGREGOR/../PATENTEES.

The extra length of this instrument is accommodated in the head joint, which doubles back on itself.
