Lyre guitar, made of light wood with ebony and ivory inlay in thin stripes around the sound hole and edges. Below the bridge are ebony floral decorations. A brass band holds the two ends steady with the central neck. The instrument has violin pegs and six strings (it has been restrung). The bridge pins and missing pegs have been refitted. Several pieces of inlay have been reglued.
It is labelled 'Joseph Schweiger Instrumentenmacher / in Stadtamhof'. It was made in Regensburg, Bavaria, circa 1820.
