Large double action concertina-band instrument with split reed pans. English system. Serial number 39278. Right-hand label absent, left-hand label: '39278' on paper strip under fretwork. 12.81" long x 9.38" AF [across front?], flat rosewood ends, fully fretted, with extra round holes around the edge, bevelled. 44 keys: 21 left hand, 22 right-hand, plus air valve added later, beneath the finger rest. Flat silver tipped nickel, bushed. Left-hand leather strap added later, right-hand strap absent. Nickel screws. Seven-fold black leather bellows. Tapered squared brass beds screwed onto pans, steel tongues, pans in two halves separated by wooden baffle into which air valves open.
