321.311-71 Spike bowl lutes sounded by bowing with a bow

So sam sai, spike fiddle.

The so sam sai, or saw sam sai, is played in the Thai classical music ensemble known as the khruang sai, which can include other stringed instruments, a duct flute, drums, cymbals and even other western instruments. The player always holds the bow of the so sam sai in the same plane, and twists the instrument to reach the different strings.
