Hand-held metal mirror. Hand-held metal mirror, circular, with integral rectangular handle, wrapped in bamboo with some brocade under the bamboo. Plain on one side. On the reverse in raised metal two characters, 'hou rai' (a phrase used for congratulations) at the centre. Also in raised decoration surrounding this a pine tree, a bamboo clump, turtle, two cranes (one flying over the tress, the other standing). A small inscription in a column on the left reads: 'nishimura bungo ? masashige', the name of the maker or owner. 268 h inc handle x 205 dia.
